Taking an active part in your local community is encouraged, and we believe in providing our employees with the opportunity to make a difference. In addition to a flexible VTO policy, Advent also plans group opportunities for employees local to the Nashville area.
Where are some of the places our employees spend their VTO?
HandsOn Nashville
HandsOn Nashville connects volunteers to opportunities at 200+ nonprofit organizations in the greater Nashville area. In the past, HandsOn Nashville has partnered with local food banks, schools, and disaster response initiatives.
Nashville ThriftSmart
The ThriftSmart store is the largest thrift store in Nashville. One hundred percent of ThriftSmart’s proceeds go towards benefitting local nonprofits, and volunteers are incredibly important to support that mission. Volunteers assist in sorting, hanging, and organizing donations to prepare them for sale.
Samartian’s Purse - Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child is a seasonal shoebox drive hosted by Samaritan’s Purse. They encourage individuals and groups to pack shoeboxes with gifts for children, which Samaritan’s Purse will distribute as part of their missionary work.
Veterans of Foreign Wars
Veterans of Foreign Wars is a nonprofit veterans organization that focuses on lobbying in support of veteran interests, providing free assistance programs, and hosting community initiatives in support of local veterans. These volunteer opportunities vary but often consist of assistance with local events such as parades and patriotic holidays, healthcare services, and food distribution.
Local Opportunities
Employees often also seek out volunteer opportunities for local organizations or schools that have meaning to them. This can include serving food at local food pantries, participating in ecological projects, or assisting schools in projects they host.
